Pictures from the Night Sky
Now and then I tried to shoot some pictures of the night sky, just for fun.  The pictures are done with simple equipmen, just a 35mm camera and standard telephoto lenses or a small spotting scope, the 'Orion short tube', a cheep two lens 80mm f=400mm telescope.  The pictures were taken in the mountains close to Innsbruck, at elevations between 1600m and 2200m.  The sky is quite dark there and no filters, or other sophisticated techniques was used.  The exposures were usually too short to be limited by sky background. The pictures were scanned and then the contrast a litte bit enhanced.  Here there are a few examples:

Orion region    5 min exposure with f2.8 135 mm lens

Orion nebula    10 min exposure with 'short tube' f5.0 400mm

Horse head nebula    10 min exposure with 'short tube' f5.0 400mm
